Online Workshop, like fish in an aquarium we were communicating and amazingly it worked. The best part though was to meet the children in Anklam in September to finalize the porject.

Dora Kaprálová and me were in Prague at the Zatlanka Gymnázium and worked with students on four short films about John Heartfield for the planned exhibition “Kosmos Heartfield” at the Akademie der Künste. The film is on the website and in the exhibtion too.
September & October 2019 – 2020
Madrid / BItterfeld and next? Beginning a film called Staffelfilm (Echelon Film). With Wolfgang Bush, artist and cameraman we started in Bitterfeld and brought the films and pictures the pupils made to Madrid. Children there were around 6-14 years old and they came after their school to meet us. The idea was to continue our traveling but the covid situation made that impossible.

Filmworkshop in Zerbst with 4th grade school children. The children decided to put Astrid Lindgrens protagonists in a detective – space story. It was wild.

Three workshop films done at the Akademie der Künste Berlin. Eight smart kids (7th-10th grade) from the Heinrich-von-Stephan-Gemeinschaftsschule Berlin have written, filmed and acted in front of the camera during five days. The results are three great genre films. Enjoy.

Ich kann mein Leben nicht in einem Satz sagen – I cannot tell my life in one sentence.
Film workshop with young refugees in Trebbin, a small town near Berlin. As usual the participants were filming on their own, recording sound, singing, doing interviews and stop motion. Filmworkshop was run by Stephanie von Beauvais and me. The result is a free style documentary.

This short film was created during a workshop week in late summer 2016 in Torgelow in the course of Kunstwelten 2016 with the class 6c. The title is the “Kids at the alien beach” because we talked about the future, about what the kids wish for their own future and about what they think future could look like. In the end the film is a kind of science fiction. The children were working on the story during this one week and did all the filming and sound recording. As usual. And also this time we had a great time together.

June 16 – Stadt der offenen Türen / DEMOPOLIS open city – public places
new workshop films made at the Akademie der Künste zu Berlin with young people from the Karuna house e.V. who made plans for a city they would like to live in.
During the exhibition „Bodenlos – Vilém Flusser und die Künste“ two workshops took place in the Akademie der Künste. Both were 3 day workshops.
Youngsters around the age of 14 from the Theodor-Heuss-school in Berlin took pictures, animated and recorded sound. Here is the result:
The same workshop but this time it was winter time and the children were around the age of 13 from the school Grundschule am Koppenplatz in Berlin.

Inspired by Alice in Wonderland
This stop motion film was created during a workshop week in summer 2015 in Torgelow in the course of Kunstwelten 2015 with the class 5b and 5 asylum seeking children. It was wonderfully hot and the time spent in the woods was magic. The editing time was also a great time.
Hänsel und Gretel Trickfilm / Hansel and Gretel stopmotion
This film was realized with children around the age of 8 and 9 during a stop motion workshop in Berlin. In five days the children built the set and wrote the screenplay. One month later another group of children of the same age worked on the animation, the songs and sound design.
And for me it was the first time to edit in Lightworks. It worked well and was fun.
AusFlug – ExCursion 2014
This film was realized with children around the age of 8 and 9 from the Gebrüder-Grimm-Grundschule Anklam during a pixilation workshop in the course of KUNSTWELTEN (Akademie der Künste & Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung). In five days the children experimented with pixilation wrote a story and made a lot of pictures. It was great fun as always, also the postproduction.
Verzauberter Herbsttag – An enchanted Autumn Day

Pixilation und Stopptrick. Entstanden im Herbst 2013 während einer Workshop Woche im Rahmen der KUNSTWELTEN mit Kindern der Klassen 4a und 4b der Gebrüder-Grimm-Grundschule Anklam.
This is a result of a 5 day pixilation workshop with a 6th grade class. It was held during the exhibition “Stadtspiele” at the Akademie der Künste, Berlin in April 2013.
